My friend in finance says that they have these bills here b/c it’s the “land of the sketch” i.e. there’s lots of dirty money that passes through this country…ummm yeah kinda figured that out! BUT I didn’t know that when you have such big bills, it means that you actually facilitate the money laundering processes…this is just a theory anyway so I leave it up to you to decide for yourself. Basically, it seems that with these large bills, you can easily stuff ONE MILLION DOLLARS worth (francs I guess!) in a slim briefcase or carry it on your body! Well, I have no interest in that but you know who like to carry their cash? …well maybe those who are up to no good….
He says that this is why the UK got rid of their 500 pound note…Canada stops at $100…I know there’s a 500 euro note but I’m not sure about a 1000. Anyway, c’est tres interessant non?!
As for me, it’s a rarity to touch such bills and so I just had to take a lil snap.
This is definitely a land for the rich. Check out this TAKEOUT MENU…notez bien, I”m not in a restaurant…you take this home with you and it’s just such quality! The sushi is good but probably you pay a litte towards these shiny thick-papered menus 🙂
