Danang University (UD)
I made it! The regular hours at the uni are 7-5 with a 2hrs nappy break at 1130. I got here at 9 after a fish soup brekkie (50 cents, sorry MK:( ) and worked on my blog (it’s back!) until lunch. Then I got two invites but chose to go to my new boss’s home – good choice : ) We had a vegetarian lunch cuz it’s a full moon today and so twice a month, everyone in Vietnam goes veggie but it’s really quite good. We had fake chicken that looked like taro in a sour salad, fried tofu with some amazing dipping sauce, spring rolls, steamed veggies Asian style, fat mi quang noodles and rice. Yummy in my tummy although I can’t eat so much in this hot, hot heat.
Now I’m back at work with a vengence. Here’s the 3 projects I’ve been assigned although number 1 is the priority.
1. Maritime Center Project: Finland has offered to help fund the building of a Maritime (sea) Centre for the city of Danang. I must research existing centers (there’s one in Victoria) and find feasibility studies, write a letter to the Finnish embassy in Hanoi (by Monday), prepare the proposal, and be successful so we receive the funding. Wish me luck 🙂
2. Implementing Uni of Wash. (UDub) curriculum in digital technology studies at UD: do you think they might want to do this b/c their acronymns are similar? Actually, my boss’s son goes to school there.
3. Creating partnerships between UD and Canadian universities. This is my baby b/c I’d like to do this long term as well. Even CGA could be involved! I’m starting to see real linkages b/w my previous job/school experiences and can see a career path forming. Yippee!
Community building is the main goal and I can see that there’s plenty to do.
